Software Engineer, Front-End

Primary Job Responsibilities

As a front-end software engineer, you will build new features for the consumer-facing web and mobile applications for consumers, merchants, and curators.

The front-end engineer will have end-to-end ownership over design, implementation, and testing of new application features.

  • Collaborate with product management and product design in specifications and design of new features and applications
  • Design, develop, document, test, debug, and support code for web-based and mobile applications
  • Deeply understand our customers and proactively recommend product ideas and enhancements
  • Design and architect technical solutions, applying appropriate framework and design patterns and creating a reusable and maintainable codebase
  • Participate in peer testing, including development of test plans and executing test cases against multiple browsers and platforms as applicable
  • Lead design reviews and actively participate in peer reviews

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • More than two years of experience in software development

Data Engineer

Position Location

Primary Job Responsibilities

As a data engineer, you will be responsibility for building systems to collect and process events of massive scale to gain operational and business insight into the performance and optimization of Joyus video shopping network.

The data engineer will work closely with product, engineering, and business leads in generating dashboards, one-off reports, and summary data sources to feed into platform behavior. This will also include building and maintaining the infrastructure to collect and transform raw data.

  • Design, build, scale, and evolve large scale data systems
  • Integrate data from various data stores to ensure consistency and availability of data insights
  • Prioritize tasks and deliverables, optimizing for a balanced delivery on short-term and long-term goals
  • Articulate and present findings and recommendations at different levels, with a clear bias towards impactful learning and results
  • Drive the usability and impact of the data projects in ad hoc analysis and real-time and batch processing
  • Champion engineering organization's adoption and ongoing use of the data infrastructure

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent job experience
  • 3+ years working experience with a scripting language such as Perl or Ruby
  • Experience with RDBMS, such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, and noSQL and columnar data stores; experience with ETL
  • Experience with map reduce frameworks such as Hadoop and associated tools (Hive, Pig, etc) a plus
  • Experience with statistical analysis and a data visualization package such as R, Mathematica, Stata, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience with cloud environments and devops tools; working experience with AWS and its associated products a plus
  • Experienced with machine learning a plus
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills
