Dismounted portrays a Native American chief whitewashed from his perch - erased from his own narrative. Much of Jules de Balincourt's subject matter has an anti-civilizationist feeling that delves into questions of American history. The original painting was recently featured in an exhibition at White Columns. Jules de Balincourt has exhibited at Mori Art Museum in Toyko, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris, Royal Academy in London and Salon 94 in New York.
